Can’t express my love for this hostel enough. If you are coming to David or the area definitely stay at this hostel! The owners are so kind, genuine, and make this place as special as it is. You wake up every morning to a beautiful waterfall which you can swim in and jump off. They have a restaurant on site, and the hostel owners even make an amazing dinner every night which you change purchase (I highly recommend). Would come back to Panama just to stay at this hostel! If you practice mindfulness and want to meet likeminded travelers, this may be the place for you! I’m a solo female traveler and I felt very safe. The host, Roger is thoughtful and kind. He pays attention to the small things that matter. He is fluent in several languages, including English. There’s a well on the property so there’s water in spite of drought conditions in the area. The bathroom was clean and I was invited to share dinner yesterday, along with other travelers. Roger drove me into town to purchase things I needed and he purchased 2 huge bags of ice when he noticed that I liked my beverage with Lots of ice! Such an Amazing place with full access to a waterfall and beautiful garden !
Room are clean and comfy, and hosts could propose some local activities around the area (surfing, hotsprings, waterfall, hiking...) Hosts are also aware and disponible if you need help for something.

A little late on this review but Joe’s layover hostel is the homiest hostel you will probably ever visit. The guys make you feel welcome immediately and showed me a local’s David/Panama! If you’re in David you need to stay here!

Joe and Roger are two absolute legends who have found eachother in life and run this hostel to share their passion with everyone who steps through their gates and make them feel at home. They go all out on giving you a great and personal experience and organise all kinds of activities around the area for very cheap. Writing this review while still on the road on a 9 week solo trip and I'm not missing my home but I sure as hell miss these guys and this place!
